Why Me

I grew up in good ole’ North Carolina, I’m one of four children, and somehow never acquired a southern accent. I have loved fashion as long as I can remember. I studied Fashion Merchandising at East Carolina University and took a one month course in Italy at Polimoda for Fabric Styling. After graduating I immediately knew I wanted to work at a high-end specialty store, which NC did not have at the time. So I moved north to pursue my dream and my then boyfriend, now husband. My first job was as Assistant Manager of Cosmetics, then I moved to Department Manager of Shoes, quickly followed by Manager of Handbags, and ultimately ended up the Manager of Designer/Couture.

I have been in the fashion industry for 12 years. I have worked at, in my opinion, the two greatest high-end luxury retailers in the USA. In both stores I had to “dress the part”, but how was I going to do that on such a small budget. Well,  I worked with the clothes that I already had in my closet, dating back to high school,  and added one or two fabulous pieces each season, that I of course would get on sale. I also learned to find pieces that would replicate items found on the runway but from retailers such as H&M, Zara, Target, Forever 21, etc. As for make-up I am no make-up artist but I do enjoy the creativity it allows me every morning. I love finding great products that work and cost half of what you would pay at a department store.

And now two beautiful children later, Charlotte 8 and Michael 3, I’m really on a budget, LOL. I enjoy finding special and unique clothes and accessories for them as well.

In my blog I hope to inspire you: to re-invent what you already have hanging in your own closet, help you to make smart purchases, and not be afraid to make a statement. Enjoy!
